“Since part of the book takes place in Egypt, I did a lot of research on Egypt in the early 1800s,” says The Perfect Wife author Victoria Alexander. “It's easy to find info on ancient Egypt but 19th century Egypt is hard. But I did learn quite a bit and that research is coming in handy now.”
In The Perfect Wife, the Earl of Wyldewood imagines the perfect wife would be agreeable, malleable and of course gorgeous. Sabrina Winfield is genteel, beautiful, demure. Sometimes, you’re better off with something completely different than what you wanted. Not that she’s not perfect, it’s that she changes his mind about what is perfect and how he wants his wife to be.
“I wanted to write about a couple who had some sort of past conflict and I really liked the idea of neither of them realizing who the other was at first,” says Victoria Alexander. “I also wanted a heroine who was a little older.”
“I started writing my first book, Yesterday and Forever in 1993,” says Alexander. “I sold it fourteen months after I finished it in 1994 and it came out in October of 1995.”
“Right now, I’m working on a new series about the great-grandchildren of the hero and heroine in The Perfect Wife,” says Alexander. “In the spirit of The Perfect Wife, the stories will include a bit of adventure. The first is The Virgin's Secret, which refers to an ancient, lost city. It should be out next spring.”
Victoria Alexander was an award-winning television reporter before she discovered writing fiction was more fun than real life. She’s a New York Times best-selling author. Victoria Alexander is a self proclaimed Air Force brat and says she grew up “all over”. She was born in Washington, DC and currently lives in Omaha, Nebraska.
Alexander is the author of 22 novels and five novellas. Alexander’s novella Lady Amelia's Secret Lover is unique because it was published only as an e-book and includes a video clip narrated by Alexander.
“This was a chance I never get, to talk directly to readers as they read my story,” says Alexander. “I'd do it again in a minute. I've had nothing but good feedback from people who’ve read the e-book, but I've also received a lot of mail asking if Lady Amelia will ever be out in a paper format. As much as e-books are becoming more and more popular, books on paper have an appeal that will never disappear.”
The Perfect Wife is a reissue, the book was first published in 1995. It stands the test of time. This book has quite a bit of humor.
A light read that’s fun and sexy.
